Third Teen Drowned in Jabalpur Canal Found After 24 Hours

The body of the third teenager who drowned in the Bargi canal in Jabalpur was recovered on Friday, nearly 24 hours after three girls were swept away while making reels during a wedding outing.

Incident Details

The tragic incident occurred in Salivada village on April 23 when four girls went to the canal. According to police, one of the girls slipped into deep water while bathing and filming videos. Two others jumped in to rescue her but were also swept away by the strong current. The fourth girl managed to swim to safety and alerted authorities.

Search and Rescue Operation

State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) teams along with local divers launched a search operation immediately after the incident. On Thursday, they recovered the bodies of two victims. The third victim, identified as 17-year-old Srishti Patel alias Tannu, was found approximately 500 metres from the spot on Friday morning.

The recovered bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and further investigations are underway.
