Garhwa: A tragic incident occurred on Thursday in Gobardaha village under Meral police limits in Garhwa district, where two teenagers drowned in a dam. The deceased have been identified as Zainab Khatoon (14) and Sohail Khan (15), according to police officials.

Sohail, a Class 9 student, drowned while attempting to rescue his father’s sister, Zainab, who was drowning in the deep waters of the dam. Local divers conducted search operations and successfully retrieved the bodies of the deceased.

“The bodies were sent to Garhwa sadar hospital for post-mortem examination,” said Meral police station Officer-in-Charge Vishnu Kant. The authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident.
