Chennai Super Kings spinner Akeal Hosein shared his thoughts on the dismissal of Delhi Capitals captain KL Rahul and the team's powerplay strategy following CSK's convincing win over DC in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season. The left-arm orthodox bowler played a key role in restricting DC's batting lineup, taking the crucial wicket of Rahul early in the innings.
Hosein on Rahul's Dismissal
Reflecting on the wicket, Hosein said, 'KL is a world-class batsman, and getting his wicket was a big moment for us. I bowled a tight line and length, and the ball turned just enough to take the outside edge. It was a set plan, and I am glad it worked.' The dismissal came in the powerplay, setting the tone for CSK's dominant bowling performance.
Powerplay Execution
Hosein also highlighted the team's disciplined approach during the powerplay overs. 'We wanted to put pressure on their top order by bowling dot balls and building a strong field. The fast bowlers did a great job upfront, and I tried to maintain that pressure from my end. The plan was to not give them easy runs, and we executed it perfectly,' he added.
CSK's bowlers restricted DC to a modest total, with Hosein finishing with figures of 2 for 18 in his four overs. The spinner praised the team's collective effort, saying, 'It was a complete bowling performance. Everyone stuck to their roles, and that made the difference.'
Match Summary
Chasing a target of 145, CSK reached the mark in 18.3 overs with five wickets in hand. The win strengthened their position in the IPL 2026 points table. Hosein's contribution with the ball was instrumental in setting up the victory, earning him the Player of the Match award.
The Trinidadian spinner expressed confidence in CSK's campaign moving forward. 'We are playing good cricket as a unit. If we continue to execute our plans, we can go all the way,' he concluded.
