The Gujarat Titans bowling attack has been exceptional throughout this IPL season, and they delivered another stellar performance at the Narendra Modi Stadium to propel the team to the top of the points table, edging closer to a playoff berth.
Bowlers Dominate on Sluggish Pitch
The black soil pitch offered assistance to the bowlers, but it was the brilliance of Mohammad Siraj, Kagiso Rabada, Jason Holder, and Prasidh Krishna that dismantled the powerful Sunrisers Hyderabad batting lineup. The Titans secured an 82-run victory after defending a modest total of 168.
Siraj (1/11) initiated the collapse by dismissing Travis Head, caught at third-man off an outside edge in his first over. Rabada (3/28) then tore through the top order, removing Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Smaran Ravichandran within the Powerplay, effectively ending the contest early. Heinrich Klaasen posed a brief threat, but his dismissal by Holder with the score at 56-6 sealed the game.
Batters Set Competitive Target
While the pacers stole the show, the Titans batters played a crucial role in posting a competitive 168/5. Opener B Sai Sudharsan (61 off 44 balls, 5 fours, 2 sixes) and Washington Sundar (50 off 33 balls, 7 fours, 1 six) anchored the innings with half-centuries. Captain Shubman Gill failed early, caught at mid-on by Klaasen off Praful Hinge. Jos Buttler (7) struggled against accurate bowling from Pat Cummins, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Hinge, eventually edging a scoop to Kishan.
Nishant Sindhu (22 off 14 balls, 3 fours, 1 six) provided momentum with a boundary and a six off Reddy, but Cummins removed him soon after. Sundar and Sudharsan added 60 runs off 41 balls to give the innings structure, keeping the scoreboard moving with singles and occasional boundaries.
