The Gujarat Titans (GT) endured a harrowing experience after their IPL final defeat when the team bus suffered a short circuit while returning from the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday night, leaving players stranded for nearly an hour, TimesofIndia.com has confirmed.
Bus Incident Details
The short circuit occurred shortly after the match, forcing the immediate evacuation of players and support staff. Fortunately, everyone on board is safe. The incident added to a disappointing evening for GT, who had just lost the IPL final to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by five wickets.
Team's Grueling Schedule
The Titans have faced a challenging few days leading up to the final. Their arrival in Ahmedabad was delayed due to poor weather in north-western India, with their chartered flight held up by nearly three hours. The team eventually reached Ahmedabad late on Saturday, causing the postponement of the scheduled captains' photoshoot featuring Shubman Gill and Rajat Patidar.
Over the past five days, GT played Qualifier 1 on May 26 against RCB at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala, which they lost. The next day, they traveled to Chandigarh before facing Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2 on May 29 at the New PCA International Stadium in Mullanpur. Despite the hectic schedule, they made it to the final but fell short.
Captain's Reaction
After the final, captain Shubman Gill praised his team's efforts. "We couldn't get over the line, but there are always things that you could improve on. And even if we had won the trophy, there were still things that we felt as a group that we needed to work on," he said during the post-match presentation.
