Hyderabad: Sunrisers Hyderabad head coach Daniel Vettori has stated that the team is fully focused on overcoming a formidable Punjab Kings side in their upcoming Indian Premier League encounter. Emphasizing the competitive nature of the tournament, Vettori remarked, "Anyone can beat anyone on a given day. We are aware of the significance of this match, but we also recognize that they are at the top of the standings for a reason."
Nitish Kumar Reddy's Fitness Update
Vettori expressed optimism regarding all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy's availability, saying, "He is feeling much better. We do not foresee a situation where he will not play tomorrow." When questioned about whether Nitish's absence had impacted the team's performance, Vettori drew comparisons, stating, "Nitish is akin to a Marco Jansen or a Marcus Stoinis in the Punjab lineup. They provide immense balance to the side and make my job considerably easier when selecting the team."
Focus on Punjab's Opening Pair
The former New Zealand captain also highlighted Punjab's reliance on openers Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya. "Their opening combination has produced complementary contributions from their batting order. Like us, they are extremely aggressive with the bat. So, one can expect a high-scoring contest, and it will be the bowling unit that can handle that pressure effectively," Vettori added.
Brad Haddin's Perspective
Punjab Kings assistant coach Brad Haddin echoed similar views, acknowledging the strength of the Sunrisers. "SRH is a strong side, and we need to secure early wickets. We cannot allow Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma to bat for long," Haddin said when outlining the game plan. Despite back-to-back losses, the Australian remains unfazed. "It is about playing your best cricket at the business end of the tournament, and that is what our team is striving for. We are aiming for that perfect game. If we achieve that, we will be difficult to beat, and that has been our objective throughout the tournament," he concluded.
