Hyderabad: The Jubilee Hills police have registered a criminal case against a group of individuals for allegedly attempting to extort Indian Premier League (IPL) tickets by threatening representatives of a media company. According to police officials, the case was filed based on a formal complaint submitted by the company's management.
Incident Details
On May 15, a group led by K Mahesh, a student leader, allegedly trespassed into the company’s office and created a disturbance while demanding tickets for the IPL match scheduled to take place on May 22 at the Uppal Stadium. The accused reportedly used threatening language and behaved in an aggressive manner, causing fear among the staff members present.
Previous Incident
This is not the first such incident involving Mahesh and his group. According to police, last year they allegedly trespassed into the same office, created a disturbance, and successfully extorted 10 IPL tickets. During that incident, staff members were also reportedly threatened. The repeat nature of the offense highlights a pattern of intimidation and unlawful demand for tickets.
Legal Action
Based on the complaint, the Jubilee Hills police have registered a case under Sections 329 (criminal trespass) and 351 (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Investigation is underway to identify all involved individuals and take appropriate legal action.
