New Delhi: Angkrish Raghuvanshi, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) wicketkeeper-batter, has been penalized for violating the Indian Premier League (IPL) Code of Conduct during the match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The league imposed a fine of 20% of his match fee and awarded him one demerit point.
The incident occurred in the fifth over of the game when Raghuvanshi was given out for obstructing the field. Frustrated by the decision, he struck the boundary cushion with his bat in an aggressive manner and later threw his helmet into the dugout. This behavior contravened Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which deals with the abuse of cricket equipment or ground fixtures.
An official IPL statement confirmed the punishment: "Angkrish Raghuvanshi, batter and wicket-keeper, Kolkata Knight Riders, has been fined 20% of his match fee and has also accumulated one Demerit Point for breaching Level 1 of the IPL's Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials during Match No. 38 against Lucknow Super Giants." The statement further elaborated that the breach was related to "abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during a Match."
Raghuvanshi accepted the offense and the subsequent penalty. Level 1 breaches typically result in fines or warnings, depending on the severity of the action.

Despite the controversy, the match itself was a gripping contest. KKR edged past LSG in a Super Over after both teams finished with 155 runs in their allotted overs. Rinku Singh played a pivotal role for KKR, scoring an unbeaten 83 to help his team recover from a shaky start. LSG forced a Super Over thanks to a last-ball six, but KKR held their nerve to win, with Rinku earning the Player of the Match award.
