Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann inaugurated 50 newly constructed rural sports grounds across the state on Tuesday, marking a significant step toward promoting sports at the grassroots level. The grounds, built under the state government's flagship scheme, aim to provide modern sporting facilities to rural youth and encourage a culture of physical fitness and healthy competition.
Boosting Sports Infrastructure in Villages
The inauguration ceremony took place in Ludhiana district, where the Chief Minister highlighted the importance of sports in shaping the character and discipline of the youth. He stated that these grounds would serve as hubs for nurturing talent from rural areas, which have historically produced many national and international athletes. Each ground is equipped with basic amenities such as changing rooms, seating for spectators, and facilities for multiple sports including cricket, football, volleyball, and athletics.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister reiterated his government's commitment to providing equal opportunities for rural and urban youth. He announced that 100 more such grounds would be developed in the next phase, with a focus on districts with low sports infrastructure.
