As discussions about Pavia’s future intensified, a pre-draft clip of him speaking with Jon Gruden resurfaced. In the clip, Gruden asked about Pavia’s agent. Pavia replied, “No, I’m representing myself,” adding that he did not want anyone taking a percentage of his earnings.
While that response seemed confident at the time, it raised questions after the draft. Although it did not solely determine his outcome, it added to existing concerns about his size and arm strength. When doubts accumulate, teams often look elsewhere.
Agent Malki Kawa later clarified on X, stating, “He didn’t have an NIL agent. I am his agent for the NFL.” This cleared up some confusion but came after draft decisions had been made.
