Mike Vrabel, the head coach of the New England Patriots, has stepped away from his duties for the NFL Draft. He requested time off to be with his family and to seek counseling as his alleged affair partner, Dianna Russini, has disappeared from the public eye.
Vrabel's Emotional Struggles
Reports indicate that Vrabel has been struggling emotionally through this turmoil. Despite the controversy, he is described as a good guy who is spending time with his family amid the affair rumors with Russini.
NFL insider Albert Breer from Sports Illustrated appeared on Boston's 98.5 The Sports Hub and shared insights into Vrabel's personality. Breer stated, "I really like Mike personally, I've known him a long time. I've covered him as a player… I think deep down he's a good guy with a good heart who's done a lot of good things for people and wants to do good things for people and has done right by a lot of people."
Breer added, "What you don't want is that version of Mike Vrabel walking around for the next six weeks until summer and then we'll see what happens when he gets back. You want to find a way to get the full Mike Vrabel back and to me that's the most important thing."
He also noted, "Right now they're lifting and running and meeting and doing all of that. If there's anything fortunate about this, it's that they're entering now into a period of time where it's important, don't get me wrong, but this is much better than this happening in the summer during training camp or the fall during the season. So I think you have a little leeway there."
Impact on Vrabel's Job
Vrabel has maintained distance from the speculations after initially dismissing the affair rumors. His stepping away from the NFL Draft has sparked speculation that the Patriots might fire him. However, nothing has been confirmed, and the Patriots have kept their distance from the rumors.
