Nagpur's first Grandmaster Raunak Sadhwani made a significant impact on the opening day of the World Rapid Team Chess Championship in Hong Kong on Wednesday.

Impressive Performance Against World Champions

The 21-year-old Raunak, representing Team Chessnut Nova, forced World No. 1 Magnus Carlsen to a 46-move draw in the second round. In the following third round, he held former world classical chess champion Ding Liren of China in just 20 moves.

Strong Start to the Tournament

Playing on the top board for his team, Raunak began his campaign with a comfortable win over Malaysian GM Yeoh Li Tan before holding the former world champions. After four rounds in the team event, Raunak has collected two points, standing tall among the competitors.
