Snehit Wins Doubles, Reaches Semis at All India TT Championships

The 52nd All India Inter-Institution Table Tennis Championships in Indore witnessed a stellar performance from F R Snehit of the Indian Audit and Accounts Department (IAAD) on Monday. Snehit clinched the men's doubles title and stormed into the men's singles semifinals as the prestigious tournament entered its decisive phase.

A Hard-Fought Doubles Victory

Representing IAAD, Snehit partnered with Abhimanyu Mitra to secure the men's doubles championship in a thrilling final. The duo faced stiff competition from Bengal's Ankur Bhattacharjee and Shankhadeep Das at the Abhay Prashal stadium. After a roller-coaster match, Snehit and Mitra held their nerve to win 11-6, 11-7, 4-11, 9-11, 11-9, sealing the victory in the decisive fifth game.

Singles Campaign Marches On

In the men's singles event, Snehit continued his impressive form by reaching the semifinals with a commanding straight-game victory over Delhi's Sudhanshu Grover. He will be joined in the last four by a strong contingent of contenders. The other semifinalists include Manav Thakkar and Harmeet Desai from the Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB), and Manush Shah representing the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

Thakkar secured his spot by defeating Ronit Bhanja in the quarter-finals. His PSPB teammate, Harmeet Desai, overcame Jash Modi in a four-game battle. Manush Shah completed the semifinal lineup with a tightly contested straight-game victory.

Women's Events Showcase Top Talent

The women's doubles title was claimed by the Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) pair of Kousani Nath and Sampada Bhiwandkar. They defeated their fellow RSPB teammates Sutirtha Mukherjee and Anusha Kutumbale in four games to lift the trophy.

The women's singles semifinals are set to feature a strong presence from PSPB, with Sindrela Das, Swastika Ghosh, and Sayali Wani making the cut. They will be challenged by RSPB's Sutirtha Mukherjee, promising exciting matches ahead.

Organised by the Airports Authority of India, the championship featured participants from 12 government departments and public sector undertakings (PSUs). The tournament, which began earlier in the week, was scheduled to conclude on Tuesday with the highly anticipated singles semifinals and finals.
