Mumbai: India's two newest airports are now linked by daily direct flights, as Akasa Air launched services from Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMI) to Noida International Airport (DXN) on Monday. This new route connects the Mumbai Metropolitan Region with the National Capital Region.
Airport Milestones
The Navi Mumbai airport was commissioned on December 25 last year, while the Noida airport commenced flight operations this week. Despite its recent launch, Navi Mumbai airport has already secured a position among India's top 10 busiest airports. In April, it handled 5.24 lakh passengers, making it the eighth busiest airport in the country.
Operational Details
The airport is expected to begin international operations in the coming months. A spokesperson for NMI stated, "The NMI-DXN connection will improve market access, reducing travel time between key corporate catchments across sectors such as manufacturing, logistics, technology, real estate, financial services, aviation, hospitality, and trade."
