Varanasi: In a major move to promote sustainable mobility and enhance public transportation for students, faculty, staff, and residents, a new bus service linking Banaras Hindu University (BHU) with Varanasi Cantt Railway Station has been launched on campus.
Electric Buses and Collaboration
As part of this initiative, eight electric buses will operate on the route. The service stems from BHU's social outreach efforts aimed at benefiting the broader community. The project, realized in partnership with Varanasi City Transport Services Limited (VCTSL), seeks to provide an eco-friendly, affordable, and convenient transportation option while supporting green energy initiatives and addressing the long-standing demand for improved connectivity.
Fare Structure
The fare has been fixed at Rs 10 for travel within the university campus. Passengers traveling between BHU and Varanasi Cantt Railway Station will be charged Rs 20 to Rs 25, depending on the route and distance covered.
