A 24-year-old BTech student was allegedly stabbed by his roommate following a heated argument over cheating during an online PUBG game in the MP Nagar area of Bhopal early Tuesday morning. The MP Nagar police have registered a case on charges of attempt to murder against the accused, who is currently on the run.
Incident Details
According to investigation officer SI Kunwar Singh, the complainant, Shivendra Tripathi, aged 24, is a native of Rewa district and is pursuing a BTech degree from a private college in Ratibad. He resides in a rented accommodation in MP Nagar Zone-2 along with three friends, including the accused, Lokmani.
Police reports indicate that Lokmani, also a native of Rewa and a childhood friend of Shivendra, was playing PUBG online with Shivendra and two other roommates in the early hours of Tuesday. Around 5 am, Lokmani allegedly accused Shivendra of cheating during the game, which led to a heated exchange of words. The argument quickly escalated, and Lokmani allegedly attacked Shivendra with a knife.
Injuries and Medical Treatment
Shivendra sustained a serious stab wound near the left side of his chest. Following the attack, the accused fled from the scene. The injured student was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital by his other roommates, where he is currently undergoing treatment. His condition is reported to be stable.
Police Investigation
The MP Nagar police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for attempt to murder. A search operation is underway to apprehend the accused, Lokmani. Authorities are also recording statements from the other roommates and gathering evidence from the scene.
