Mangaluru: A significant increase in revaluation requests from CBSE Class XII students has sparked concerns about the fairness of this year's evaluation process. Many students and parents allege that a new assessment method may have resulted in unexpectedly low marks across various subjects, causing widespread anxiety. The issue has particularly affected students seeking admission to colleges and professional courses, impacting both science and commerce streams.
Principal Voices Concerns
Rev Fr Rohan D'Almeida, principal of St Aloysius Gonzaga School, reported that numerous students expressed dissatisfaction with their scores, especially in physics. "We received grievances from students across streams, with many reporting marks below expectations in several subjects," he said. He added that physics students appeared to be among the worst affected, prompting many to apply for revaluation.
Impact on Admissions
A principal noted that the timing of the results has compounded student distress, particularly after the cancellation of the NEET exam. "Lower board marks have further affected students' prospects, especially for those appearing for CET, where board scores are considered, and for students applying to institutions outside the state," the principal explained. The number of students applying for revaluation this year is significantly higher compared to previous years.
CBSE Post-Result Process
CBSE has opened its post-result process for students seeking access to evaluated answer sheets, verification, and re-evaluation. Students can download answer scripts from May 19 to 22 and apply for corrections from May 26 to 29. The board has assured that all requests will be processed promptly to address student concerns.
