G-SHOCK x Joshua Vides: Two Limited Edition Watches at Rs 12,995 Each
G-SHOCK x Joshua Vides: Two Limited Watches at Rs 12,995

G-SHOCK has unveiled its latest collaboration, handing two of its most iconic watch cases to Los Angeles artist Joshua Vides. Known for his stark black-and-white linework that has appeared on murals and sneaker collaborations, Vides has transformed the DW-6900 and DW-5600 models into a unique two-watch drop. The DW-6900JV-1 and DW-5600JV-7 are priced at Rs 12,995 each and are available through select G-SHOCK stores and online platforms.

The DW-6900JV-1: Matte Black with White Graphics

The DW-6900JV-1 features a matte black case with white graphics traced across the case, bezel, and strap. It retains the model's signature three-dial digital face and front button. The design emphasizes Vides' characteristic style, turning the watch into a two-dimensional sketch of itself.

The DW-5600JV-7: Glossy White with Black Outlines

In contrast, the DW-5600JV-7 inverts the color scheme with a glossy white square case adorned with black outlines. The watch appears as if drawn from a comic book panel. Pressing the backlight on either model reveals Vides' 'Cone' motif glowing across the display.

Vides' Artistic Approach: Flattening 3D into 2D

Vides is renowned for transforming three-dimensional objects—such as shoes, cars, and rooms—into flat illustrations using thick black outlines. Applied to G-SHOCK's blocky digital silhouettes, the effect is strikingly clean. The watches look drawn rather than built, embodying Vides' visual grammar.

Functional Features Remain Unchanged

Both watches maintain standard G-SHOCK functionality, including shock-resistant construction, Super Illuminator LED backlight with afterglow, 1/100-second stopwatch, countdown timer, multi-function alarm, hourly time signal, and a full auto-calendar running until 2099. Accuracy is rated at ±15 seconds per month, with a battery life of approximately five years.

Custom Packaging and G-SHOCK's Legacy

Each watch ships in custom packaging designed specifically for the collaboration. G-SHOCK has a history of artist collaborations dating back to the 1980s, but this release stands out by fully integrating Vides' unique style rather than merely adding a signature to the strap.
