Google Expands QuickShare-AirDrop to More Android Brands

Google has expanded its QuickShare-AirDrop cross-platform file transfer feature to support more Android brands beyond Samsung and Pixel. The service now works with Xiaomi, OnePlus, Honor, Vivo, and Oppo devices, enabling seamless file sharing between Android and iOS.

Initial Launch and Compatibility

The feature was initially launched in late 2025 for the Pixel 19 series and iPhones, later expanding to the Samsung Galaxy S26 series. This move marked Google's effort to bridge the gap between Android and Apple ecosystems.

Device Rollout Timeline

Additional devices, including the Galaxy S25, Z Flip/Fold series, Oppo Find X8, and OnePlus 15, will gain support by the end of June. The rollout covers a wide range of smartphones from multiple manufacturers.

How File Transfer Works

Users can wirelessly share files between Android and iPhone via QuickShare and AirDrop settings. The process is straightforward and does not require third-party apps.

QR Code Sharing for Non-Compatible Devices

Non-compatible Android devices can generate a QR code for instant cloud-based sharing with iOS devices. This ensures that even older or unsupported models can participate in cross-platform transfers.

Key Statistics

  • Late 2025: Initial launch year
  • More than 5: Number of supported brands
