A young woman from Haryana, who was allegedly confined to the residence of a married Akola man for five days after meeting him online through a gaming application, was rescued on Tuesday night.
Accused Used Fake Profile on Gaming Platform
The accused, identified as Zamir Zahiruddin Kazi (25), is reportedly married and has a child. According to police sources, he operated a fake profile under the username 'Badshah' on a gaming platform and used it to establish contact with multiple women. He allegedly developed a relationship with the Haryana-based woman and persuaded her to travel to Akola.
Woman Confined for Five Days
Investigations reveal that the woman was brought to Geeta Nagar area, where she stayed at the accused's house for nearly five days. The accused allegedly influenced her emotionally and convinced her to remain with him.
Brother's Complaint Led to Rescue
A missing complaint was registered in Haryana, prompting the woman's brother to trace her to Akola. He approached the Khadan police station, following which the matter came to light. The police acted swiftly and rescued the woman from the accused's residence.
The incident highlights the risks associated with online interactions, especially on gaming platforms where users can create fake identities. Authorities have urged caution when engaging with strangers online and have emphasized the importance of reporting suspicious activities.
