IIT Madras, Kanpur to Fix CBSE Portal Glitches

The Ministry of Education on Sunday announced that it has directed the Indian Institute of Technology Madras and the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur to assist the Central Board of Secondary Education in resolving technical issues on its post-result services portal. This decision follows widespread complaints from students and parents regarding glitches in the re-evaluation process.

Expert Teams to Be Deputed

According to a press release from the Press Information Bureau, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has instructed that a team of professors and technical experts from both IITs be deputed to the CBSE. The aim is to ensure a smooth and reliable system for students. The statement read: "In view of the recent developments and concerns raised by students and parents regarding the CBSE post-result services portal, Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan has given directions to depute a team of professors and technical experts from Indian Institute of Technology Madras and Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur to assist the Central Board of Secondary Education in ensuring a 'glitch-free re-evaluation process'." Student Welfare as Priority

The ministry reiterated that student welfare remains a top priority and that all necessary corrective measures need to be undertaken by CBSE on a priority basis to ensure a transparent, efficient, and student-friendly system.

Background of the Issue

The move comes amid rising concerns over the CBSE post-result services portal. Many Class 12 students have reported repeated glitches, login failures, and disruptions while accessing scanned answer sheets and applying for re-evaluation. Students and parents have also raised concerns over fluctuating fees on the portal, with screenshots circulating online claiming sharp variations in charges for obtaining answer sheets and re-evaluation services. In some cases, charges reportedly changed significantly within hours.

CBSE's Response

CBSE has stated that the website has been facing heavy traffic and attempts of "unauthorised interference," leading to disruptions. The board has extended deadlines for accessing scanned copies of answer books and applying for verification and re-evaluation. "The CBSE website has been facing unprecedented traffic since the past few days and has also faced several attempts of unauthorised interference, which has made it prone to disruptions," the board said.

Wider Concerns

The controversy has sparked wider concerns among students, many of whom are also preparing for competitive examinations such as JEE, NEET, and CUET, amid ongoing uncertainty over the evaluation process.
