Hyderabad: A 32-year-old Instagram user was arrested on Monday for allegedly driving a Volkswagen car at speeds exceeding 200 kmph on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and posting a video of the stunt on social media, as reported by news agency ANI. The accused, identified as Kothapalli Yashwanth Reddy from Alkapoor Township in Puppalaguda, Rangareddy district, reportedly endangered the lives of other motorists and toll plaza staff through his reckless driving.
Incident Details
The incident took place on May 10 at around 10:30 am when Reddy entered the ORR through Entry No. 18(A). He was driving a newly purchased car with temporary registration number TG TR 2026 from the Narsingi Toll Plaza towards the TGPA Toll Plaza at speeds exceeding 200 kmph. During the drive, the accused recorded the speedometer and the journey on his mobile phone before uploading the video to his Instagram account under the name ‘Yashwanth Reddy’. The video quickly went viral, sparking public concern.
Legal Action
Following the circulation of the video, patrolling officer Karingula Sairam filed a complaint at Narsingi Police Station on May 19. Based on the complaint, police registered Crime No. 396/2026 under Sections 125 and 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and launched an investigation. Using technical evidence and digital tracking of the social media account, police traced and detained Reddy.
During questioning, Reddy reportedly admitted that he purchased the car in April 2026 and carried out the high-speed stunt on May 10. Cyberabad Police have seized the car involved in the case, and further legal proceedings are underway.
