Hyderabad: To help prisoners gain job-oriented skills, prison officials are setting up an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) inside Cherlapalli jail. On Monday, Director General (Prisons) Sowmya Mishra visited the upcoming ITI premises and conducted a review.

Objective of the ITI

“The proposed ITI is aimed at imparting job-oriented technical and vocational training to prisoners, equipping them with industry-relevant skills that will facilitate their smooth transition into the mainstream workforce after their release,” prison officials said.

Preparatory Visits

Prison officials earlier visited the National Skill Training Institute (NSTI) and the National Skill Training Institute for Women (NSTI-W) to gain first-hand knowledge regarding infrastructure and training methodologies.
