In a pioneering road safety initiative, the Jaipur Range Police has launched a QR code-based alert system designed to help commuters identify accident-prone black spots on highways across the Jaipur Range. The initiative aims to reduce road accidents and fatalities by making travelers more aware of high-risk stretches before they reach them.
How the QR Code System Works
The QR code will be displayed at toll plazas, police stations, transport hubs, and other public places to ensure maximum accessibility for road users. When scanned with a smartphone, the code opens a Google-based map highlighting black spots on highways under the Jaipur Range jurisdiction.
Jaipur Range IG Rahul Prakash stated that the QR code was developed using accident fatality data from the last three years. The digital map uses a color-coded system to indicate the severity of accident risks at various locations.
Color-Coded Risk Zones
- Yellow marker (C-Type): Low-risk zone with fewer than 10 fatalities recorded.
- Orange marker (B-Type): Medium-risk zone with 10 to 20 deaths.
- Red marker (A-Type): High-risk zone with more than 20 fatalities.
Officials said the QR code can be scanned by any commuter to access real-time awareness about dangerous stretches and take extra caution while driving. The system is designed for long-distance travelers, transporters, bus drivers, and daily commuters using Jaipur highways.
“By knowing in advance where accident-prone zones are located, drivers can reduce speed, stay alert, and avoid reckless driving,” IG Prakash added.
The Jaipur Range Police covers the districts of Jaipur, Dausa, Jhunjhunu, Alwar, and Sikar in Rajasthan.
