Kochi Police Arrest Six in Drug Raids, Seize Ecstasy and MDMA

Kochi: The city police have apprehended six individuals in connection with the possession and sale of narcotic substances during two separate raids conducted on Thursday. Acting on specific intelligence, law enforcement officials carried out a search operation at Aquaria - The Boutique Resort, located in the Tripunithura-Petta area.

First Raid: Resort Seizure

During the search of room number 208 at the resort, police recovered a significant quantity of illicit drugs. The haul included 11.13 grams of ecstasy pills and 6.10 grams of MDMA, both of which were allegedly intended for sale and personal use. In connection with this seizure, three individuals were taken into custody. They have been identified as Unais, 34, a resident of Thrikkakara; Ronish Antony, 28, from Kannadikad; and Aquin Shibu, 22, of Tripunithura.

Second Raid: Residential Area

In a subsequent operation, a team raided a house in the FACT Colony area near Ambalamedu. From this location, police seized 19.720 grams of MDMA, also believed to be meant for distribution and consumption. The following three individuals were arrested in connection with this seizure: Akhil Appu, 30, and Abhishek, 28, both from Puthencruz, and Suraj Sunil, 27, of Karimugal. Additionally, authorities recovered Rs 8,370 in cash, which is suspected to have been earned through drug sales.

Police have stated that further investigations are underway to trace the source of the narcotics and to determine if the arrested individuals are part of a larger drug trafficking network. tnn
