The two-day state-level camp of Little Kites IT clubs, marking the culmination of this academic year's activities, will commence at the Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) campus in Kalamassery on Wednesday.
About Little Kites
Little Kites is an IT club initiative under Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE) in government schools. It has 2,248 units, enrolling approximately 80,000 students annually from Class VIII. The programme focuses on nurturing digital skills, creativity, and innovation among students through hands-on learning in coding, electronics, and multimedia.
Selection Process
This year, 78,336 Class IX students participated in the club. Of them, 14,804 were selected for sub-district camps, and 1,253 advanced to district-level competitions. From this pool, 204 students who demonstrated exceptional talent and innovation have been chosen to take part in the state camp.
Event Highlights
A key highlight of the event will be a student project exhibition on Wednesday from 10:30 am to 12 noon. The exhibition will feature projects in programming, robotics, and 3D animation, developed using robotic kits distributed in schools and leveraging free and open-source software platforms.
