Lucknow University Introduces New PhD Sub-Category for Outstanding Professionals
LU Launches Outstanding Work Professional PhD Category

Lucknow University has introduced a new sub-category, 'outstanding work professional', for candidates seeking admission to part-time PhD courses. This sub-category is designed for individuals who have made substantial contributions in their respective fields of occupation. These candidates will be required to pay an annual fee of Rs 1.52 lakh, which is three times the Rs 52,530 per annum fee for ordinary part-time PhD candidates.

Details of the New Category

According to Lucknow University spokesperson Mukul Srivastava, the part-time PhD program has been divided into two categories. The outstanding professional category has been introduced to remove age or years-of-service barriers for young professionals who are excelling in their field. For other employees, Category 1 remains available. Separate online application forms will be provided for these two sub-categories.

Admission Process and Deadlines

The university opened the application window on Thursday for all 1,434 PhD seats across 43 departments. The deadline for submitting applications is June 30. Candidates must apply online through the Samarth Portal available on the Lucknow University website. There are three PhD program categories: full-time research scholar, part-time research scholar (with two sub-categories), and international (foreigner) research scholar.
