Madurai MP S Venkatesan has urged Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to intervene after students appearing for the NEET re-examination reported difficulties in accessing the examination fee refund process while downloading admit cards.
In a letter to the minister, Venkatesan said students attempting to download hall tickets for the June 21 re-examination were directed to a separate link requiring verification of bank account details. According to him, clicking the “Edit & Proceed” option caused the website to crash and, upon logging in again, students were shown only the admit card download option.
“As a result, students who had already submitted their bank account details are deeply disappointed,” he said, adding that many feared they would be unable to reclaim the examination fee.
The MP said NTA had stated that around four lakh students downloaded admit cards between Sunday evening and Monday morning. He alleged that bank account details previously submitted by many candidates had disappeared from the system during the process.
“This incident reveals yet another failure, incompetence, and administrative blunder by NTA,” Venkatesan said. “The website appears to have been deliberately designed using technology to subtly prevent NEET students from reclaiming their fees.” Questioning why a bank verification link was attached to the admit card process after the refund exercise had already been completed, he asked whether the move had been “deliberately engineered”.
Venkatesan demanded immediate removal of the bank verification link from the hall ticket download process and sought a separate facility for students to re-enter bank details. “NTA has further burdened students who are already under mental stress, pressure, and fear regarding the new examination,” he said.
