The Bandra-Kurla Complex police have launched a manhunt for Sudesh Tukaram Indap, 40, a temporary employee of Mumbai University, who is accused of leaking question papers for the BCom Semester VI examination. Indap has been missing since the leak came to light.
A police team visited his residence but found that his family was unaware of his whereabouts. According to a police officer, Indap has not reported to work since the incident was discovered.
The case was registered based on a complaint filed by Professor Shivaji Sargar, the Director of the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) and chief conductor of the examination process. The breach was detected on April 15 after an alert from the examination department. A review of CCTV footage confirmed the act, and the accused allegedly admitted to forwarding the images for financial gain. The incident is believed to have occurred between April 9 and 15 at the university's Kalina campus.
Nine days after the incident, a case was registered under the Maharashtra Prevention of Malpractices in University, Board and Other Examinations Act, 1982, along with relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway.
