NEET-UG cancellation welcomed by Ranchi aspirants

Ranchi: A significant portion of NEET-UG aspirants in Ranchi has welcomed the cancellation of the examination following allegations of a question paper leak, describing it as a correct decision that would ensure justice for genuine students. The move has evoked both disappointment and relief among candidates.

Mixed Reactions from Aspirants

Sumit Surav, an aspirant who appeared from Ranchi, expressed his mixed feelings. He had scored 695 marks out of 720 and was hopeful of securing admission to a prestigious college. "Now I have to prepare for the exam all over again. However, with the question paper leak, a large number of aspirants benefited unfairly. The cut-off marks would have been scaled up under the circumstances," he remarked.

Another student, Samir Jaffer, who scored 630, was confident of securing a government college seat. "It is a bittersweet experience. Years of hard work has not been rewarded. However, I would make efforts to improve my performance in the re-test," she stated.

Jaswant Kumar, from Hazaribag, noted that with a score of 541, he was certain of getting admission under the reserved category. He supported the cancellation, believing it would level the playing field.

Coaching Institute Perspective

Pankaj Singh, head of a leading coaching institute in Ranchi, observed that students had mixed responses to the decision. "Many of them had informed about their performance and prospects only to learn that the test has been cancelled," he said, highlighting the emotional turmoil among candidates.

The cancellation has sparked a debate on fairness and transparency in high-stakes examinations, with many aspirants now preparing for the re-test scheduled in the coming months.
