Begusarai: The National Thermal Power Corporation’s (NTPC) Barauni unit has been honored with the prestigious ‘Platinum Award’ in the corporate social responsibility (CSR) category by the Apex India Foundation. The award was presented during the foundation’s two-day summit held in Goa on May 18 and 19.
Recognition for the Mobile Medical Unit Initiative
NTPC Barauni deputy manager Umesh Nigam confirmed on Wednesday that the award was conferred in recognition of the unit’s Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) initiative. This project is designed to deliver essential healthcare services to underserved rural communities in the region.
“The MMU initiative has been highly successful. Through this program, NTPC Barauni has been providing primary healthcare services, medical consultations, and diagnostic support, benefiting approximately 2,000 people every year. It has significantly improved healthcare accessibility in rural areas,” Nigam stated.
Commitment to Sustainable Development
Expressing his delight over the recognition, Joydeep Ghosh, head of project at NTPC Barauni, reaffirmed the unit’s dedication to the social and sustainable development of the region. “We remain steadfast in our commitment to the community’s well-being and will continue to drive initiatives that foster long-term growth and betterment,” Ghosh said.
The Platinum Award underscores NTPC Barauni’s ongoing efforts to integrate CSR into its core operations, setting a benchmark for other industrial units in the area.
