PAU to Open Single-Window Outlet for Value-Added Food Products

Ludhiana: Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) is set to establish a single-window sales point in the university market to sell food and value-added products developed across its various departments. This initiative aims to provide students and the general public with easy access to high-quality, research-backed food items.

Replacing Scattered Sales

The new outlet will replace the current system where products are sold individually at scattered departmental offices. By centralizing sales, the university hopes to streamline operations and improve product accessibility.

Product Range

The outlet will stock a wide range of items, including specialty wheat flour, high-quality basmati rice, pulses, and canola oil. Other products on the shelves will include fruit drinks, turmeric, and multi-grain items processed at the university's agro-processing unit.

Objectives and Benefits

Vice-Chancellor Satbir Singh Gosal stated that this new hub is designed to increase product visibility. Beyond serving the campus, the facility is expected to strengthen the university's outreach efforts by connecting research directly with consumers. Officials also hope the outlet will provide students with valuable hands-on experience in marketing and retail management.

Future Collaborations

In the future, the university will explore collaborations with self-help groups, farmer producer organizations, and kisan club members. Depending on demand, these groups may be invited to supply products, further expanding the outlet's range and strengthening the university's link with local farmers.
