The Las Vegas Raiders have endured a difficult stretch on the field in recent years, finishing the last season with a disappointing 3-14 record. The team's last playoff appearance came in 2021, and their lackluster performances over the past couple of seasons have raised concerns among fans and analysts alike. Amid this, the Raiders are now being linked to a prominent wide receiver for the upcoming season.
Raiders Eyeing Stefon Diggs
The Las Vegas Raiders could make a move for former New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs, who remains an unrestricted free agent. A few days ago, Sports Illustrated's Mike Kadlick predicted that the Raiders might land Diggs, noting his potential value to the team.
In a recent report, Kadlick stated, "Between his stops with the Bills, Texans, and most recently in New England, Diggs has proved to be a net positive for teams looking to surround a young quarterback with talent." He added, "On that note, the Raiders just selected Fernando Mendoza with the No. 1 pick in the draft and can use all the help they can to build up their offense."
Kadlick continued, "Their current wide receiver situation should be considered below-average at best with Jack Bech, Jalen Nailor, and Tre Tucker leading the room. Adding Diggs as a veteran leader would make a ton of sense as the Silver and Black look to make their mark in Klint Kubiak's first season at the helm." However, the Raiders have maintained their distance from commenting on a potential deal with Diggs.
Diggs' Status and Interest
Over the last few weeks, even as multiple teams have been linked to him, the 32-year-old wide receiver has remained an unrestricted free agent. In his last season with the New England Patriots, Diggs dominated the field with 85 receptions for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns across 17 regular-season games.
Though Diggs' messy personal life and scandalous lawsuits have been in the news, the star player has expressed interest in the Washington Commanders. At this point, nothing has been confirmed as eyes remain on his next move.
