Thiruvananthapuram: As part of the railway board's policy to strengthen onboard emergency preparedness and passenger safety, an advanced firefighting training programme for onboard staff was conducted on Saturday in association with Kerala Fire & Rescue Services in Thiruvananthapuram.
Training Programme Details
The specialized training programme combined classroom sessions with practical demonstrations, providing participants with comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience in fire prevention, firefighting techniques, use of firefighting equipment and emergency response procedures in train operations.
The programme witnessed active participation from ticket checking officials of the major ticket checking depots. A total of 65 staff members attended the intensive training session.
Capacity Building Initiative
The initiative forms part of a structured capacity-building programme aimed at covering all onboard ticket checking officials across the division. With the completion of four such training sessions, a total of 255 staff members have already been trained, significantly enhancing the division’s preparedness to handle fire-related emergencies onboard trains.
Continuous training and skill development programmes are being undertaken to ensure that frontline staff remain well-equipped to safeguard passengers, railway assets and train operations, said the railway authorities.
