The Commissionerate of College Education in Rajasthan has released comprehensive guidelines for five new foreign language certificate courses set to launch from the upcoming academic session. This initiative is designed to provide students and young residents across the state with an opportunity to acquire internationally recognized language skills.
Course Details and Duration
The four-month online courses will be offered in French, German, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish. Instruction will be delivered by experts from the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) in Hyderabad.
Officials have stated that the program aims to equip participants with a beginner-level foundation that aligns with globally accepted language proficiency standards. This will enhance their employability in sectors where foreign language skills are highly valued, such as tourism, trade, services, and higher education.
Eligibility Criteria
Students currently enrolled in undergraduate and postgraduate programs are eligible to apply. Graduates and postgraduates who have completed their degrees can also enroll, subject to merit criteria. Additionally, Rajasthan residents aged 18 to 35 who have passed Class 12 through regular mode may apply if seats remain available after accommodating enrolled students.
Admission Process and Priority
According to the guidelines, applicants will indicate their preferred languages, and allotment will be based on eligibility and preference order. If applications exceed available seats, admissions will follow a priority system.
First preference will be given to final-year undergraduate and postgraduate students of participating government colleges and state-funded universities. Next preference goes to other regular students from government and private colleges, followed by graduates who have completed UG or PG programs, and then other eligible applicants from the state.
Merit-Based Selection
Admissions will be primarily based on merit, determined through Class 12 marks. Date of birth will be used only as a tie-breaker when candidates have identical marks.
Digital Infrastructure Requirements
To ensure smooth conduct of classes, EFLU will function as the teaching hub, and participating higher educational institutions will serve as student centers. Both must establish adequate digital infrastructure to support online learning.
Objectives and Benefits
Officials emphasized that this initiative is intended to enhance students' global exposure and equip them with additional skills that are increasingly sought after by employers in today's interconnected economy. The program is expected to open new avenues for career growth and international opportunities.
