Razorpay Partners with Google Pay for International Payments for Indian Businesses
Razorpay Partners with Google Pay for International Payments

Razorpay has announced a partnership with Google Pay to support international payments for Indian businesses. This integration aims to provide a more familiar checkout process for foreign clients, reducing friction and improving customer satisfaction.

First Indian Payment Aggregator to Offer Google Pay for International Checkout

According to Razorpay, this integration makes the company the first Indian payment aggregator to offer customers a card wallet payment experience via Google Pay during foreign checkout. This solution addresses problems with international checkout flows that rely solely on traditional card systems, which often result in poor customer satisfaction due to complex verification steps.

As a result, international clients will be able to pay for their purchases using Google Pay without providing card data or completing any other verification processes. In addition, the company claims that the share of online payments made via digital wallets will reach up to 65% of all online transactions globally by 2030. In this regard, there is still room for improvement among Indian exporters who use outdated payment solutions.

Benefits for Indian Businesses

Razorpay said the partnership is designed to help Indian businesses align with global payment preferences by offering a more streamlined and recognisable checkout process. By enabling Google Pay, exporters can allow customers to pay with a single tap on their phones, instead of relying on card-based flows that require CVV entry, OTP verification, and manual entry.

Commenting on the development, Rahul Kothari, Chief Operating Officer, Razorpay, said, “Indian businesses are no longer thinking of building their presence domestically first. They want to create products and have a reach that is global. For such companies, the quality of the checkout experience matters as much as the quality of the product. Buyers expect to pay in a way that feels familiar, fast, and secure on their phones. At Razorpay, we see our role as building the financial rails that make this possible. Enabling card payments through Google Pay on our international payment gateway is another step in that direction. Along with our broader cross-border stack and other global wallets, this partnership is about helping Indian businesses compete on equal terms in global markets, creating a seamless and frictionless buying experience.”

Growing Export Infrastructure

The launch is taking place amid growing Indian export infrastructure, with overall exports totalling $825 billion in FY25. The Razorpay international payments solution leverages a Payment Aggregator Cross Border (PA-CB) license provided by the Reserve Bank of India to handle cross-border payments.

This update builds on Razorpay’s earlier integration with Apple Pay. With both Apple Pay and Google Pay now supported, businesses using Razorpay can offer multiple global wallet options alongside international cards and multi-currency payments, making cross-border transactions more accessible for Indian exporters.
