Two MP Men Held with 105kg Ganja Worth Rs21 Lakh

Nagpur: Two young men from Madhya Pradesh were arrested on Monday for allegedly transporting 105 kilograms of ganja valued at over Rs21 lakh. The case was registered at Vadoda police station after the accused abandoned their truck upon spotting a police patrol team.

Routine Patrol Leads to Major Seizure

During a routine night patrol near Umri Phata on May 2, police noticed a suspicious truck parked by the roadside. Upon inspection, officers recovered a large quantity of ganja containing leaves, flowers, seeds, buds, and stems packed in plastic bags.

Acting on directions from Superintendent of Police (Rural) Harssh A Poddar and Additional SP Anil Mhaske, the local crime branch team launched a search operation.

Arrests Made After Thorough Investigation

On May 4, the team arrested the driver, Pranayasingh Dashmer, 20, and cleaner Rohit Markam, 19, both residents of Pipariya, Kurai taluka, Seoni district. A case was registered against them under the NDPS Act.

The police continue to investigate the source and intended destination of the contraband. Further questioning may reveal links to larger drug networks.
