Vivo V70 FE Review: Glow-in-the-Dark Design, 200MP Camera, 7000mAh Battery

The Vivo V70 FE arrives as one of the most striking mid-range smartphones of 2026, blending bold design choices with headline-grabbing specs. With its glow-in-the-dark back panel, a massive 7,000mAh battery, and a 200MP main camera, Vivo is clearly aiming to stand out in a crowded segment. But beyond the flashy features, the V70 FE promises dependable everyday performance, a sharp OLED display, and long-lasting endurance all at a price point that keeps it accessible. We used the smartphone for some time and here is our complete review.

Design

The FE in Vivo V70 FE stands for Fashion Edition, and Vivo has taken that branding seriously. At 7.6mm thickness and weighing around 200g, it feels sleek in hand despite housing a massive 7,000mAh battery. The flat-frame construction gives it a modern aesthetic, while the IP68/IP69 rating ensures protection against dust and water, adding practical resilience. The back panel is where Vivo adds personality. The Northern Lights Purple variant features a glow-in-the-dark effect, creating luminous streaks when exposed to light. This subtle yet eye-catching detail makes the phone unique compared to more conventional finishes. The matte texture helps resist fingerprints, maintaining a clean look during daily use. On the front, the 6.83-inch AMOLED display dominates, framed by slim bezels that maximise screen-to-body ratio for an immersive viewing experience. Button placement is intuitive, with the power and volume keys positioned for easy reach, while the SIM tray and USB-C port are neatly aligned to maintain symmetry. Overall, the Vivo V70 FE's design emphasises style, ergonomics, and durability.

Display

The Vivo V70 FE houses a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with 1260x2800 pixel resolution. The display offers up to 120Hz refresh rate and 1900 nits peak brightness level. The screen is protected from scratches by the coating of Diamond Shield Glass on top. The display is large, sharp, and feature-rich, with HDR10+ support and excellent peak brightness in auto mode. It delivers vibrant, punchy colours that look excellent for streaming and social media, if not perfectly calibrated for colour-critical work. The flat panel offers a more practical and comfortable experience compared to curved displays. Navigation is smooth, with no noticeable slowdowns or stutters during regular use. Where the display genuinely earns its keep is in outdoor use. The 1,900-nit peak brightness keeps content legible even under harsh sunlight, making it a significant upgrade over many phones at this price point. HDR10+ support means streaming content from Netflix or YouTube Premium looks considerably better than on panels that lack certification.

Performance

The Vivo V70 FE is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 7360 chipset and comes in three variants: 8GB+128GB, 8GB+256GB, and 12GB+256GB. For day-to-day tasks and productivity, performance is stable. The phone handles light multitasking without issues, though it can struggle under heavier workloads. In regular usage, it performs reliably for social media browsing and media consumption. You can feel sluggishness with demanding activities such as rapid-fire photography, heavy multitasking, light editing, and extended gaming sessions. You sense the system stretching to keep up, especially under sustained load. That said, this is not really a dealbreaker given the target audience. The V70 FE is clearly aimed at casual users, and for that crowd those who game occasionally and stick to everyday apps the performance on offer is more than sufficient. For casual gaming, performance is decent. Titles like Call of Duty Mobile run smoothly with minimal frame drops, providing an enjoyable experience overall.

The Vivo V70 FE runs OriginOS 6 based on Android 16 out of the box. The user interface feels more refined and mature, with smooth animations and polished visuals. The OS also offers a high level of customisation, enabling you to customise all the different aspects of the UI as per your preference. Vivo has also announced that the smartphone will get four years of OS updates and six years of security patch updates. The OriginOS AI suite extends to writing assistance, smart call management, and AI-powered summarisation within the notes app. The only thing we disliked about the UI is the presence of bloatware apps. Other than that, the Vivo V70 FE offers a smooth and reliable software experience.

Camera

The camera is one of the highlights of the Vivo V70 FE. The smartphone features a 200MP main camera with f/1.88 aperture, an 8MP ultra-wide camera with f/2.2 aperture accompanied by Aura light, and a 50MP eye autofocus front camera with f/2.0 aperture. During our testing, the Vivo V70 FE produced some really impressive images. The shots captured in daylight come out with pleasing colours that feel natural and well-balanced. The processing leans towards a vibrant look without going overboard. The phone manages exposure nicely in standard lighting, ensuring highlights and shadows stay under control. Dynamic range and colours are typically good, though a tendency for overexposure can produce somewhat flat results and washed-out colours. Shooting in the 50MP or 200MP resolution modes can help, as the occasional softness experienced at the default setting was notably absent at those higher resolutions. The smartphone also comes with zoom presets, and the AI 30x Super Zoom feature can capture buildings around 3km away with surprising structural detail, made possible by AI-assisted zoom processing.

On the other hand, the 8MP ultrawide takes unremarkable photos. Dynamic range is quite wide and colours are vibrant, but detail is average. The ultrawide's low-light output is predictably soft and noisy for an 8MP sensor. Portrait shots come out well, with decent subject separation and smooth background blur. Edge detection works effectively in most cases. Interestingly, the 200MP sensor is more dependable after dark than in daylight. Even in dim lighting conditions, the camera picked up surprising detail. The 50MP autofocus selfie camera is easily one of the better ones in this segment. It performs really well in both normal and portrait modes, even when taking group selfies.

Battery

The Vivo V70 FE packs a 7,000mAh battery, which is the largest ever battery found on a V-series smartphone. Along with a mammoth battery, the smartphone also comes with 90W fast charging support. The smartphone easily lasts for two days on a single charge. During our testing on days of moderate usage covering browsing, messaging, social media, and video streaming, the Vivo V70 FE offered more than two days of battery life with a single charge. As mentioned above, the smartphone offers a charging speed of 90W and takes around 60 minutes to charge completely from 0 to 100%. Vivo has also included reverse wired charging and bypass charging, which enable users to use the Vivo V70 FE as a power bank and charge their accessories like smartwatches, earbuds, and more. Beyond raw capacity, the V70 FE benefits from software-level optimizations in OriginOS 6, including adaptive background app control and AI-driven resource allocation. The massive 7,000mAh battery is easily one of the V70 FE's strongest selling points, delivering excellent longevity that few competitors in the segment can match. Pair that with reasonably quick 90W charging and a well-optimised, fluid OriginOS 6 experience, and you get a device that feels reliable and easy to live with.

Verdict

The Vivo V70 FE ends up being a rather interesting entry in the V70 lineup. On paper, it looks like a trimmed-down version of the vanilla model, but in practice, it manages to carve out its own identity with a few standout traits of its own. The smartphone comes with a starting price tag of Rs 37,999, and its glow-in-the-dark design adds personality. The 6.83-inch AMOLED display delivers sharp visuals, and the 200MP camera provides impressive detail. Where the phone truly excels is in battery life: the 7,000mAh cell with 90W fast charging. In summary, the Vivo V70 FE is best suited for users who value long-lasting battery, vibrant display quality, and standout design.
