Ahmedabad Hospitals Embrace AI and Robotics for Advanced Healthcare
Hospitals across Ahmedabad are increasingly adopting artificial intelligence and robotics, moving beyond administrative functions to play direct roles in critical areas such as early cancer detection, surgical planning, and disease prediction. This technological shift is revolutionizing patient care and hospital operations in the city.
AI Tools for Predictive Health and Early Detection
At Apollo Hospitals Ahmedabad, an in-house AI tool integrates clinical data, lifestyle inputs, and medical history into a unified system. Cdr Jelson Kavalakkat, CEO of the facility, explained that this platform does more than report a patient's current health status. "It predicts future disease risks, often years before symptoms arise," he said. In Ahmedabad, the platform manages approximately 400 monthly health checks, enabling proactive healthcare interventions.
Robotic-Assisted Surgeries and AI Planning
Zydus Hospital has seen a significant increase in robotic-assisted procedures, which now account for four out of every ten surgeries. Dr Riddhi Shah, an obstetrician-gynaecologist and robotic surgeon at the hospital, highlighted that AI is also being utilized to plan minimally invasive operations. This is particularly beneficial for patients with complications that make conventional surgery riskier, improving safety and outcomes.
AI in Hospital Management and Future Expansion
Dr Parth Desai, COO of KD Hospital, noted that AI already supports management functions, such as forecasting bed requirements based on historical data. He emphasized that AI's role will expand as hospitals adopt integrated patient databases, leading to more efficient resource allocation and better patient care coordination.
Sterling Hospital's Push for Paperless Operations
Sterling Hospital is adding another surgical robot to meet growing demand for advanced procedures. Medical superintendent Dr Sudhir Morad stated that the Gurukul facility aims to become fully paperless within six months. "AI and robotics have been buzzwords for the past year, and we see several applications. We are aiming at a paperless hospital in the next two quarters," he said, underscoring the commitment to technological innovation.
Conclusion
The integration of AI and robotics in Ahmedabad's healthcare sector is transforming how hospitals operate and deliver care. From predictive analytics to robotic surgeries and paperless systems, these advancements are setting new standards for efficiency, accuracy, and patient outcomes in the region.
