Mysuru: Industrialist A Apparao stated that industries are increasingly seeking innovative technologies to meet the ever-growing demands of consumers. He was speaking at the National Technology Day 2026 event organized by CSIR-CFTRI, held under the theme ‘Responsible Innovation for Inclusive Growth’.
Advancements in the Flavour Industry
Addressing the audience, Apparao emphasized that precision and personalization have transitioned from buzzwords to tangible realities in the flavour sector. He noted that modern flavour technology can recreate highly complex profiles, ranging from mother's milk to fish eggs. He further highlighted the pivotal role of Artificial Intelligence in decoding intricate flavour profiles, ensuring the authenticity of raw materials. Additionally, Apparao discussed recent breakthroughs in identifying the ripening stages of mangoes through stripe analysis technologies.
CFTRI’s Industry Engagements
Dr Aashitosh A Inamdar, Scientist-G and head of TTBD, elaborated on the significance of National Technology Day and presented an overview of CFTRI's industry collaborations during 2025-26. CFTRI director Giridhar Parvatam remarked that technology transfer acts as a transformational process for industries, helping them understand and address their requirements effectively. He reiterated that CFTRI continues to extend support to industries through sponsored projects and consultancy services.
Giridhar stressed that research and development work that could not progress beyond certain Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs) should be revisited on priority, as such efforts could open up new dimensions in research and innovation.
