Hisar: India's indigenous defence capabilities are strengthening national security and providing a boost to friendly nations, said Dr Prahlada Ramarao, the architect of the Akash air defence system, on Thursday.

Dr Ramarao, former director of the Defence Research and Development Laboratory, was the keynote speaker at the inaugural session of a two-day international conference titled Viksit Bharat 2047. The event was organised by Vigyan Bharati (Haryana) in collaboration with Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, focusing on the intersection of science, technology, and innovation.

During his presentation, Dr Ramarao explained the technical aspects of the Akash missile system in neutralising targets. He highlighted that a blend of ancient traditional knowledge with modern innovation is essential for India to regain its historical position as a global leader in science.
