Amazon Quick Desktop App Challenges ChatGPT and Claude with Proactive AI
Amazon Quick Desktop App Challenges ChatGPT, Claude with Proactive AI

Amazon has launched Quick as a full desktop app, putting its workplace AI assistant in direct competition with OpenAI's ChatGPT and Anthropic's Claude. The key differentiator is that Quick does not wait to be asked. It runs continuously in the background, learning how you work and acting before you need to prompt it.

Key Features of Amazon Quick

The app lives on your laptop and stays connected to your files, calendar, email, and over a dozen business tools, including Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, Salesforce, Zoom, and Dropbox. Users can pull data from an internal browser tool, analyze it with a local Python script, and paste the output into a document—all with a single request, eliminating the need to switch tabs.

Personal Knowledge Graph

Quick builds a personal knowledge graph from every interaction, encompassing your preferences, team, projects, and brand guidelines. For example, if you ask it to draft a customer win note, it already knows who needs to be copied, the deal details, and that you mentioned the client could be a reference in a Slack message three days ago. This contextual memory is Amazon's edge over rivals.

Enterprise Adoption

Enterprise adoption is already underway. 3M's sales reps save five hours a week using Quick. Amazon Books cut the time spent on coordination documents by 80%. New York Life replaced a nightly multi-report reconciliation process with a single conversational agent.

New Creation Tools

Beyond chat, Quick now builds apps, decks, and live dashboards from plain language. Users can generate presentations, infographics, and images directly inside the interface. A preview feature allows teams to describe an internal app or dashboard in plain English, and Quick builds it, connects it to live data, and deploys it. Microsoft 365 extensions for Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are also coming.

Pricing and Availability

Quick is free to start with just an email at aws.amazon.com/quick. Amazon's bet is straightforward: whoever owns your context owns your workday.
