Anthropic Launches Creative Tool Connectors for Photoshop, Blender

Anthropic has announced nine new connectors for its AI assistant Claude, allowing it to work directly inside popular creative professional tools such as Photoshop, Blender, and Ableton. The integration, revealed on April 28, is designed to streamline workflows for artists, designers, and musicians.

Seamless Integration with Creative Software

The connectors go beyond simple documentation lookup. Claude can now retouch portraits in Photoshop, build and modify 3D models in Autodesk Fusion through natural language conversation, and even allow VJs to control Resolume Arena mid-set without navigating menus. From batch-renaming layers to writing custom Blender scripts, the system aims to eliminate tedious busywork.

Affinity, SketchUp, and Splice Integrations

The Affinity connector handles production tasks like batch image adjustments, layer renaming, and file exports. SketchUp users can describe a concept in plain language—such as a room, furniture piece, or site layout—and receive a 3D model ready for refinement. Splice's integration lets music producers search for royalty-free samples without leaving Claude.

Blender Gets Advanced AI Support

Blender receives the most technically advanced treatment. Claude connects directly to Blender's Python API, enabling natural-language control over scene debugging, batch scripting, and custom tool creation within the interface. Anthropic has also joined the Blender Development Fund as a Corporate Patron, contributing a minimum of €240,000 annually to support the open-source project. Because the connector runs on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), other AI models can also integrate with Blender, not just Claude.

Partnerships with Art Schools

Three art schools—Rhode Island School of Design, Ringling College of Art and Design, and Goldsmiths in London—are early partners. Students and faculty receive full access, and their feedback will guide further development. This practical approach pressure-tests creative AI with real-world deadlines and high expectations.

The connectors follow the launch of Claude Design, Anthropic's visual prototyping product, two weeks prior. This marks a clear and sustained push into the creative industry.
