The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has identified more than 60 suspected beneficiary candidates of the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak from Rajasthan, marking a significant expansion of its probe. While the agency has not officially confirmed the exact number, sources indicate that a substantial portion of these beneficiaries hail from Sikar, the state's prominent coaching hub.
Notices and Questioning
Notices requiring these candidates to appear for questioning are expected to be issued shortly. Investigators are meticulously examining financial transactions, phone records, and communication links involving the suspected beneficiaries, their families, and alleged racket operators as the investigation moves beyond kingpins and middlemen.
Focus on Financial Transactions
Officials revealed that the agency is concentrating on candidates who paid substantial sums to obtain the leaked question paper before the examination, which was conducted on May 3. A senior CBI officer stated on Monday, "Names of several beneficiaries have emerged during the interrogation of those in custody. Their identities are currently being verified."
Potential Witnesses
The agency may consider converting some beneficiaries into case witnesses if they cooperate and provide valuable information about the functioning of the racket and the money trail. This strategy aims to dismantle the entire network.
Arrests and Network
The investigation intensified following the arrest of three members of the Biwal family from Sikar: brothers Dinesh Biwal and Mangilal Biwal, and Mangilal's son Vikas Biwal. They are accused of procuring the leaked paper and selling it further down the chain. During their interrogation, investigators reportedly obtained details of several candidates who received the leaked paper through this network.
Case Study: Dinesh Biwal's Son
Investigators disclosed that Dinesh Biwal paid approximately Rs 10 lakh to procure the paper for his son, Rishi. Despite having the questions in advance, CBI sources said Rishi managed to score only 107 out of 720 marks and failed to qualify. The CBI is currently searching for Rishi. Investigators are also reviewing his academic record; he scored 254 out of 500 marks (50.8%) in the RBSE Class 12 exams, allegedly after receiving grace marks, with weak performance in Physics and Chemistry.
