The Atlanta Falcons have struggled in recent seasons, missing the playoffs for the eighth consecutive year. With back-to-back 8-9 records, the team is focused on a rebound in the upcoming season.
Falcons Linked to Stefon Diggs
Bleacher Report's Timothy Rapp has linked former New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the Atlanta Falcons. Rapp noted that while the Falcons added Jahan Dotson and Olamide Zaccheaus this offseason, neither provides a game-changing complement to Drake London. Diggs would offer another established option. However, the Falcons have not yet responded to the trade rumors.
Legal Troubles
Despite his on-field prowess, Diggs is embroiled in legal issues. An assault lawsuit filed by his former personal chef is scheduled for a hearing on May 4. Diggs' attorney, Mitchell Schuster, stated, "We are confident that after the facts and evidence are reviewed in this case he will be exonerated. It's a shame that this had to happen today." He added, "It's frustrating for him to have to be here knowing what really happened. He's a good person and we are looking forward to the prosecutors seeing all the facts and evidence that we have gathered." Throughout the 2024 season, Diggs faced multiple lawsuits from ex-girlfriends while maintaining strong performance.
On-Field Performance
After an injury-plagued 2024 season, Diggs recorded 85 receptions for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns. He became the first Patriots receiver to surpass 1,000 receiving yards in a season since Julian Edelman in 2019. Despite his performance, the Patriots released him last month, amid speculation linking the move to his legal controversies.
Diggs is currently focusing on training, with his next destination uncertain.
