Jake Paul Dismisses Ilia Topuria as Too Small for Boxing

Jake Paul is once again calling out some of the biggest names in combat sports, and this time he is not holding back. In a recent interview with Complex's Matt Welty, Paul stated he is open to fighting both Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov. He also shared his thoughts on UFC champion Ilia Topuria, delivering clear and bold remarks.

Currently, Jake Paul is seeking his next opponent after suffering a TKO loss to Anthony Joshua last year. That defeat was only the second of his career, motivating him to make a strong comeback. Meanwhile, he continues to target major UFC names, as he has done previously. In past boxing matches, Paul has defeated Nate Diaz, Anderson Silva, and Tyron Woodley.

During the same interview, Paul also discussed Dana White, noting that their relationship remains strained. However, the bigger talking point was his assessment of Ilia Topuria, who is considered one of the most dangerous fighters in the UFC following wins over Alexander Volkanovski, Max Holloway, and Charles Oliveira.

Jake Paul Says Ilia Topuria Is "Too Small" and Not a Real Threat in Boxing

Jake Paul made it abundantly clear that he does not view Ilia Topuria as a danger inside a boxing ring. Speaking to Complex, he said, "It would be the same with Topuria. They have to publicly, when they're on the live streams, say 'I'll do it right now! Let's do it!' Then when it goes to happen, it doesn't come to fruition."

He added, "We'll see! I have respect for him. But in a boxing match? That's honestly a warm up for me. All jokes aside, if we did MMA, he would probably win. But you just have to know the truth that I think these fighters try to boast too much and act like they're better than they are to the world. But let's find out the truth; that's what's great about the sport."

Paul did not stop there. He also commented on Topuria's size, saying, "It would be like playing with a little toy. He's like 5'5'', can't even ride a roller coaster. The guy is tiny!" Despite these remarks, there is still some respect in his tone. Paul acknowledged that Topuria could defeat him in MMA, but he firmly believes boxing is a different story.

Topuria's Status and Potential Fight

Ilia Topuria, the current UFC lightweight champion, has built his reputation with powerful knockouts. His recent victories have elevated him to one of the top fighters globally. He is expected to fight Justin Gaethje at UFC Freedom 250 later this summer, which will be another significant test for him.

Jake Paul had previously challenged Topuria, and the UFC star appeared open to the idea. However, no official fight has been announced between them. At the same time, Paul continues to aim higher. His interest in Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov demonstrates his desire for the biggest possible fights. Both names carry immense attention, and a boxing match with either would be massive. For now, nothing is confirmed, but Jake Paul has made one thing clear: he is ready to step into the ring with anyone, and he believes he has the edge, at least in boxing.
