MakeMyTrip has significantly upgraded its artificial intelligence-powered travel assistant, Myra, enabling it to handle complete travel bookings end-to-end. The enhancement marks a major milestone for the online travel aggregator as it seeks to streamline the booking experience for users across India.
Myra Crosses 3 Million Conversations Per Quarter
The company revealed that Myra has crossed 3 million conversations per quarter, with more than 45 percent of its usage originating from tier-2 and smaller cities. This indicates strong adoption beyond metropolitan areas, reflecting the growing comfort of users in smaller towns with AI-driven assistance.
Full Booking Capabilities
Previously limited to answering queries and providing recommendations, Myra can now handle the entire booking process, including flight and hotel reservations, cancellations, and modifications. Users can interact with the assistant via text or voice commands in multiple Indian languages, making it accessible to a wider audience.
MakeMyTrip stated that the upgrade leverages advanced natural language processing and machine learning models to understand complex user requests and execute transactions seamlessly. The AI assistant is integrated with the company's backend systems to ensure real-time availability and pricing.
Impact on Customer Experience
The enhanced Myra aims to reduce dependency on human customer support agents for routine bookings, allowing them to focus on more complex issues. Early feedback indicates faster resolution times and higher customer satisfaction scores, particularly for straightforward travel plans.
Industry analysts view this move as a strategic step to differentiate MakeMyTrip in a competitive market where rivals are also investing in AI. The company plans to continue refining Myra's capabilities, including personalized itinerary suggestions and proactive travel alerts.
