Actress Saba Azad, ahead of the release of the second season of the web series 'Who's Your Gynac?', has made a compelling argument for the inclusion of sex education in school curricula across India. In a recent interview, she emphasized that sex education is crucial for helping individuals make informed choices and should be mandatory in every school, not just private institutions.
Saba Azad on the Importance of Sex Education
Speaking to ANI, Azad stated, "I think sex education should be compulsory in schools. Not only in private schools but in all schools. Because sex education doesn't corrupt the mind. It informs the mind. Whatever you say, if a child is growing up with information, if he is informed, he will make the right decisions. So I think it's very essential that this be given to everyone." Her remarks come at a time when discussions about comprehensive sex education are gaining momentum globally.
Lack of Research and Awareness in Women's Health
Azad also addressed the historical neglect of women's health, pointing out that awareness and research in this area remain insufficient. "I think we are generally weak when it comes to women's health. We don't talk about it, nor do we research about it. From 2026, we have now finally started doing research on women's bodies. Earlier, we used to research on the male body and copy-paste it on the female body, for example, intermittent fasting is very good for males but not for females. Very few people are aware of such things. We do research on men's health, but we don't research on women's basic and important health. So that phase has now started," she explained. Her comments shed light on a critical issue that has long been overlooked.
Preparation for the Role of Dr. Vidushi Kothari
When asked about her preparation for portraying Dr. Vidushi Kothari, a young OB-GYN in the series, Azad revealed that the team went to great lengths to ensure authenticity. They consulted a real gynecologist to better understand medical procedures and terminology. "We had consulted a gynecologist. We met her and she told us how to use the medical equipment and how to pronounce certain medical terms. She explained it to us. I was sent a presentation and we studied for it," she shared.
Evolution of Her Character in Season 2
Azad also discussed how her character, Vidushi, has evolved in the second season. "It was very interesting. Because her character graph is also changing. Like she is growing up, her life challenges are changing," she said. The new season takes a more personal and emotional turn, with Vidushi battling self-doubt and inner insecurities. "Earlier, the world used to doubt her. But now she has started doubting herself," Azad noted. She added that this self-doubt is relatable to many young professionals finding their footing in their careers.
What to Expect from Season 2
Teasing the new season, Azad said, "I think Vidushi is the same. But things around her are changing. Her friends are settling in their lives. She is getting a job. Everyone around her is growing up. But Vidushi feels that she is lagging behind. So, you will see this in the next season."
