At a time when concerns are rising that artificial intelligence (AI) may eliminate entry-level positions, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff has made an announcement that challenges this notion. Benioff declared that Salesforce is currently hiring 1,000 new graduates and interns. This announcement directly contradicts the idea that AI is a job-killer for the younger generation.
Building the ‘Agentic’ Future
Benioff revealed that this new wave of talent, part of the company’s “Futureforce” program, will be tasked with powering Salesforce’s most advanced AI projects, including Agentforce and Headless360. On X (formerly Twitter), he posted: “I’m locked on, @DavidSacks! We’re hiring 1,000 new grads & interns right now to ride the AI exponential. You are right they said AI would kill entry-level jobs. Meanwhile these grads & interns are building it — powering Agentforce & Headless360 at Salesforce.”
Benioff’s response came as a reply to AI Czar David Sacks, who had earlier pointed out that data does not support the “job apocalypse” theory. Sacks noted that hiring for college graduates is actually up 5.6% over last year, while unemployment for degree-holding 20–24-year-olds has dropped significantly. “Narrative violation: Hiring of new college graduates is up 5.6% over last year. Youth unemployment for degreed 20–24‑year‑olds fell to 5.3% from 8.9%. Weren’t we told that 50% of entry-level jobs were going away?” Sacks said in a post.

Earlier this year, a report indicated that Salesforce had cut fewer than 1,000 roles. According to Business Insider, the affected roles included marketing, product management, data analytics, and the Agentforce AI product, as per LinkedIn posts and conversations with two employees.
