Dr. Mihir Pandey discussed the history and functions of SAESM, noting its emergence as a premier hub for economists across South Asia. The #ClearHerPath campaign is a World Bank Group communications initiative that calls on stakeholders—including policymakers, the private sector, labor unions, think tanks, and civil society—to support policies, legislative reforms, and programs such as care services, safe mobility, and skills training. These efforts aim to expand jobs and economic opportunities for women in South Asia, where only one in three women is in the workforce compared to three in four men.

Quiz Objectives and Participation

The #ClearHerPath Quiz was designed to create awareness and encourage discussion among students about the various barriers to women’s employment in South Asia. Through a competitive format and engaging activities, the quiz presented ground-level facts, myth busters, and thought-provoking questions. It was the first quiz of its kind organized across South Asian nations.

The first round was held online, where prospective participants submitted videos to the organizing committee discussing issues highlighted by the campaign. From over a hundred applicants, the committee—led by Dr. Rupali Sharma, Assistant Professor in Economics at SGTB Khalsa College and India Coordinator of SAESM—shortlisted five teams from across the University of Delhi.

Results and Conclusion

After three rounds of competitive quizzing, Team Kamble from SGTB Khalsa College emerged as the winner with 1900 points. A team from Kirori Mal College secured the runner-up position. The quiz concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Rupali Sharma, who expressed hope that the competition encouraged students and participants to ask tough questions and reflect on the issues discussed.
